Long & Foster Real Estate
North Carolina - "Tarheel State"
North Carolina's two best features lie on the far east and west boundaries of the
state. Two opposite but extremely beautiful landscapes greet you on either side.
The Appalachian Mountain chain runs through the western part of the state, forming
the lush landscape of the region. The Great Smoky Mountains are in-fact one of the
country's top natural destinations, with the famous Blue Ridge Parkway winding through
North Carolina's mountains. On the east, warmed by the Gulf Stream, the North Carolina
coast is a place filled with sunny beaches, giant sand dunes and wetlands.
North Carolina’s cities and towns are also very historical; there are sites from
pre-Revolutionary Days through the Civil War and historic lighthouses.
North Carolina is part of Long & Foster’s move south. We already have five real
estate sales offices open in northern North Carolina.

North Carolina Regions
Triangle Real Estate
Triangle Real Estate
The Triangle region of North Carolina is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the
hottest places to live and work in the United States. Its three corners are formed
by the cities of Raleigh and Durham and the town of Chapel Hill. Within the Triangle
are more than 1.5 million residents, four research universities (Duke University,
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University,
and North Carolina Central University), a professional baseball team, and countless
cultural attractions, including the North Carolina Symphony, the Carolina Ballet,
the North Carolina Theatre, and the exciting Broadway Series South. One of the Triangle’s
biggest draws, however, is the 7,000-acre Research Triangle Park. Built in 1959,
this research and production district is now home to more than 140 major businesses
and 40,000 employees. In short, the Triangle has something for everyone – ample
job opportunities, excellent public schools, proximity to several esteemed academic
institutions, and a high quality of life.

Homes in Albemarle Sound
Homes in Albemarle Sound
The Albemarle Sound is the ideal setting for a rural retreat. The nautical atmosphere
and relaxed way of life regularly draw people to these shores of northeastern North
Carolina.
The military has a strong presence in the region with several Coast Guard commands.
Residents also spend lots of time on the water along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
Boating and fishing are popular activities.
Economic and commercial activity in the area centers around Elizabeth City, which
has six National Register Historic Districts. In nearby Hertford, Victorian and
Georgian homes line the peaceful streets. The Dismal Swamp Canal in Camden dates
back to 1784 and is the oldest manmade waterway in the country still in use.
Whether you are looking for a vacation getaway home or a permanent piece of paradise,
the Albemarle Sound is the ideal place to escape from the hustle of city life.
